Stephen collected the Chris Nicholl Memorial Trophy at the 2009 NGK ENKALON Irish Motorcyclist Year Awards, for best Irish finisher in the Junior ManxGP.

Following a discussion with the family of rider Andrew Neill, Stephen McIlvenna of Randlestown paid a fitting tribute to good friend Andrew by riding the Moira club's bike at the Mid-Antrim road races on Saturday 1st August 2009.
Moira Motorcycle Racing Club would like to thank Stephen for this tribute to the late rider and the Neill family for their support.
With the continued support of the Neill family Stephen McIlvenna will complete the 2009 competition season by racing the Moira Clubs R6 in the following races, Dundrod, Ulster GP, Manx GP and Killalane
