History
2003 was the year for Hillsborough man Paul Earney a rider was riding well in the past couple of years.Paulonly raced in the 600 classes. Paul was doig well in the season and at the Skerries road races he was leading the race until he droped to 4th place overall on corrected time. Paul completed the newcomers at the Manx GP.
Paul raced in 2004 for the club and finished with some good results. Paul retired at the end of the racing season. The Moira club respected his decision and wished him all the best.
2005 saw Yarno Holland from Richill replace Paul Earney. Yarno was racing well last year and won the Tandragee 250cc race and got a 3rd in the 125cc race.
Yarno competed in the Southern 100 Golden Jubilee in 2005 along with the irish roads and other international races.
In 2006 Yarno finished 2nd on a wet cookstown road and had an impressive year on the other races. He completed the IOM TT in 19th place and won the classic championship this year also. Yarno retired from racing and stayed with the club as a member. Yarno got the clerk of the course job for the Tandragee 100 in 2007.
The Moira Motorcycle Club are pleased to announce that Andrew Neill, from Newmills in Dungannon, will be their new rider for the forthcoming 2007 season, taking over from the recently retired Yarno Holland. Neill, who also hopes to secure a 250cc machine for the year, will campaign the clubs 600cc Yamaha R6 and will compete in all of the Irish National road races. In addition, he will race at the North West 200, Ulster Grand Prix, Southern 100 and Manx Grand Prix, where he scored fourth (Junior) and sixth (Senior) place finishes in 2006, also lapping at 116.572mph.
Andrew had a couple of good results over thhe 07 race season. Andrew was asked to race for the Martin Bullock race team and with the clubs name on their bike. He completed the big circuit in 3rd place on the junior race.
Andrew kepted on racing with the club in 2008 and with a good start with a 3rd & 6th at the Cookstown 100. Andrew crashed at the Tandragee 100 but not hurt. Andys season was to stop due to a bad accident at the Skerries road races. Andrew was out on the 125 race and leading until the last lap and crashed out. With Andrews bad injuries he didnt compete in any other races in 2008.
2009 had to be Andrew Neill's best year in his racing life. Andrew loved to race and nothing was to stop the young man from Newmills. Andrew was racing on four bikes this year. With a 125,250,600 and 1000cc machines he was in for a big and hard seasons racing. The 09 season saw Andrew finish in 6th place at Cookstown,19th at the North West 200,6th at the Bush and a big 4th place at Skerries. On the other bike,s Andrew won his first race at his local home town race ,(The Bush road races). He won the 250 cc race came 5th on the 1000cc superbike race and finished the day in 6th place on the clubs R6. Andrew was going very well with all the bikes and went to the IOM TT for the first year after racing in the Manx for the past few years. Andrew said he would be happy to finish in the top 25, but he did better than that. Andrew finished the 2009 IOM TT in 16th & 19th places.
What a year this fellow was having and loving every bit of it, well that was until Andrew was on a practice lap behind a traveling marshal on a very wet Walderstown circuit on Sunday 12th July 2009.Andrew lost control of the bike and crashed.
Andrew lost his life doing what he loved so much.
