Athea road race cancelled

Athea Motorcycle Road Race Club regret to announce that our annual round of the Irish Motorcycle Road Race Championship due to take place on June 26th & 27th 2010 has been cancelled.

One of their main sponsors went into liquidation.
The road surface on the circuit has also been an issue with the recent winter severity conditions and we are currently working on this issue with Limerick County Council, to address it for 2011.
The Athea club wish to apologise to anyone who had made plans to attend our event and wish to thank everyone who has helped us over the last few months at the various fundraisers and those who offered their help and assistance for this year’s event.

The club would like to take this opportunity in thanking all the officials, scruitineers, medics, other clubs, sponsors, supporters, the fans and of course the people who everyone comes to see: - The Riders for their support over the last 8 years and we wish them every success for the remainder of the season. We would also like to extend a special thanks to the people of the Athea Community who not alone supported us in the last eight years, but were also held captive in their homes during the various road closures to facilitate the races.

The Club look forward to welcoming you all back next year to Athea 2011.
